몬티케이가 K-누리과정을 도입한 3가지 이유

“이 교육 방식만으로 충분할까?”

17년간 미국과 한국을 오가며 유아교육 현장에서 교사와 원장으로 아이들을 만나왔습니다.
한국식 교육기관에서는 체계적이고 밀도 있는 수업을 통해 아이들의 기초를 탄탄하게 다질 수 있었고, 미국식 몬테소리 교육에서는 아이들이 자율성과 창의성을 기반으로 스스로 배우고 성장하는 힘을 보여줬어요.

두 가지 모두 분명한 장점이 있지만, 한편으론 아쉬움도 있었습니다.
“서로의 장점을 잘 엮어낼 수 있다면 더 풍부한 교육이 되지 않을까?” 이런 고민이 몬티케이를 준비하게 된 출발점이었어요.

그래서 몬티케이에서는 몬테소리 철학 위에, 한국 누리과정의 주제 중심 활동을 유기적으로 담았습니다. 단순한 결합이 아니라, 서로를 보완하며 더 깊고 풍부한 배움이 일어나도록요.

“Is this approach really enough for my child?”

After 17 years of working in early childhood education both in the U.S. and Korea—as a teacher and as a school director—I’ve met countless children and parents. Each educational model has its own strengths:

In Korean programs, I saw how children build strong foundations through structured, in-depth lessons. In American Montessori classrooms, I witnessed children thrive through independence, exploration, and self-directed learning.

But I also saw the gaps.
And I often wondered:
“What if we could bring the best of both worlds together?”

That question was the starting point of Monti.K.

At Monti.K, we build on the Montessori foundation, but we also integrate the K-Nuri thematic curriculum from Korea. Not simply adding two systems together—but thoughtfully combining them to complement each other and create deeper, richer learning experiences.
